On Watch

Shake aside the fog

this morning air

like rushing water

covering

the upturned face

Command the limbs awake!

Mobile, but encumbered

ponderous, beneath the load

Armored, but not protected

from the self inflicted blows

of doubt,

uncertainty, and

disinterest.
